Tank cleaning Manchester

We were called in to one of our customers who are based in Manchester very close to Manchester Airport, this company are very large in the ” Prepared Meals” Industry and supply well known clients with classic authentic Asian style dishes.

The Authentic range of foods has scooped the Company several prestigious product awards over the years. These awards are testament to the high quality and innovative development of our Indian, Chinese and vegetarian ready meals and snacks. Indian cuisine continues to grow in popularity in the UK and, as the influence of regional Indian cultures increases, so too has the appetite for new, more adventurous flavours. Our Customer ensures its customers remain at the forefront of consumer demand and continually offer innovation for new flavours within our range alongside improving and maintaining the core and most popular lines.

Our Customer has a well sized Effluent Treatment Plant for the treatment of the factory’s waste water and sludge’s, this waste is produced from washings from the factory which produce the authentic dishes.

The Tanks from the treatment plant over time have built up with fatty sludge’s which eventually do have to be de sludged by the means of Tank Cleaning, this involves in most cases “tank entry” and this means the use of a recovery winch & Tripod, Gas testing equipment and sometimes breathing equipment.

Tank Entry : This means we enter a tank or vessel which is a confined space where their may or may not be a breathable atmosphere, this requires special training which our operatives have undergone.

Recovery Winch & Tripod :If for any case whilst our operative is in a confined environment and something happens and they become unable to get out, we can safely get him out with the use of the tripod and winch and get professional help.

Gas Testing : We use the MSA ALTAIR 4X Multi-Gas Detector as its tough and functional, It tests for  Oxygen (O2) , Carbon Monoxide (CO) , Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) and Combustible Gases.

Breathing Equipment: If after we have tested the environment for a breathable atmosphere and their is not one there, we will have to use Breathing apparatus.

A self contained breathing apparatus, or SCBA, sometimes referred to as a compressed air breathing apparatus (CABA), air-pack, or simply breathing apparatus (BA), is a device worn by rescue workers, fire fighters, and others to provide breathable air in an IDLH (immediate danger to life and health) atmosphere. When not used underwater, they are sometimes called industrial breathing sets. The term “self-contained” means that the breathing set is not dependent on a remote supply (e.g., through a long hose). If designed for use under water, it is called SCUBA (self-contained underwater breathing apparatus).
An SCBA typically has three main components: a high-pressure tank (e.g., 2,216 to 4,500 psi (15,280 to 31,000 kPa)), a pressure regulator, and an inhalation connection (mouthpiece, mouth mask or face mask), connected together and mounted to a carrying frame

We Were there most of Saturday but its takes time to do a job right, and there is no point in doing a job if you don’t do it right!
